Hi, I’m Melissa…

I have been on a journey of over 25 years of learning how to pray and walk intimately with Jesus. This has led me to many interesting places to work with all types of people. I served as a missionary in Africa for several years, working with leaders and youth and teaching them about prayer. Since returning to America I have still walked and prayed with the broken, including children in foster care, women in prison, and the sick in hospitals.

I also understand what it is like to be broken myself. I have been on my own personal healing journey for many years. I have walked through dark valleys and seen Jesus meet me there. If that’s where you are at, I believe He can meet you there too.

It is in the darkest places that God is nearest to us. If we will only continue to reach for Him, we can find Him like never before. In finding Him, we find ourselves. That’s what Finding the Beloved is all about. Becoming aware of Who God really is, and becoming aware of who we really are in His eyes. Growing in this awareness sets us free to live a life where we can truly make a difference in the world.

I am passionate about prayer and helping others find a deeper relationship with Jesus. This is why I have chosen to become a spiritual director. If you don’t know what that is, think of me as a companion on your journey with God. Having the company of others to walk through life, especially through hard things or transitions, is a game-changer. If this sounds like something you need in your life, visit my spiritual coaching page to learn more.

Finding the Beloved is a journey that I will be on for the rest of my life. On my blog I write from my heart some of the things that I am learning on this journey. I pray that this blog will be a well that other fellow travelers can stop and drink from, receiving the encouragement that they need to continue on. Don’t ever give up on your pursuit to know and walk with God. The Bible says this about YOU:

“Even when their paths wind through the dark valley of tears, they dig deep to find a pleasant pool where others find only pain. He gives to them a brook of blessing filled from the rain of an outpouring. They grow stronger and stronger with every step forward, and the God of all gods will appear before them in Zion.”
